Chief Executive Officer
Russell C. Ellwanger has served as our Chief Executive Officer since May 2005. Mr. Ellwanger has also served as a director since September 2016, and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of our subsidiaries, Tower Semiconductor USA, Inc., Tower US Holdings, Inc., Jazz US Holdings, Inc., Jazz Semiconductor, Inc., TowerJazz Panasonic Semiconductor Co., Ltd. and TowerJazz Texas, Inc. He also served as a director of the Company between May 2005 and April 2013.
From 1998 to 2005, Mr. Ellwanger served in various executive positions for Applied Materials Corporation, including Group Vice President, General Manager of the Applied Global Services (AGS), from 2004 to 2005, Group Vice President, General Manager of the CMP and Electroplating Business Group, from 2002 to 2004. Mr. Ellwanger also served as Corporate Vice President, General Manager of the Metrology and Inspection Business Group, from 2000 to 2002, during which he was based in Israel. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Ellwanger served as Vice President of Applied Materials’ 300-mm Program Office, USA.
Mr. Ellwanger served as General Manager of Applied Materials’ Metal CVD Division from 1997 to 1998 and from 1996 to 1997, Mr. Ellwanger served as Managing Director of CVD Business Development, during which he was based in Singapore. In addition, Mr. Ellwanger held various managerial positions in Novellus System from 1992 to 1996 and in Philips Semiconductors from 1980 to 1992.
Dr. Edrei was appointed President in November 2011. He previously served as an Executive Vice President of Tower Business Units and Business Development since 2008, and as Senior Vice President of Product Lines and Worldwide Sales since August 2005. In 1996, Dr. Edrei established the Research and Development Group at Tower. He was the Director of R&D and later Vice President of R&D from August 2001. From 1994 to 1996, Dr. Edrei served as Tower’s Device and Yield Department Manager.
Prior to joining Tower, he was employed by National Semiconductor as Device and Yield Section Head.
Dr. Edrei received his Ph.D. in Physics and his B.Sc. in Computer Science and Physics from Bar Ilan University in Israel in 1988 and 1983 respectively. From 1988-1990, he did his Post Doctorate at Rutgers University, NJ.
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Mor was appointed Chief Operating Officer, TowerJazz in April 2014. Previously Mr. Mor served as TowerJazz Japan, Ltd. Representative Director and CEO of TowerJazz Japan since January 2013 after serving as CEO of TowerJazz Japan from October 2012. Prior to this, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager at Newport Beach from September 2008. In April 2007, he was Vice President of Business Development for Tower Semiconductor. Previously, he served as Tower’s Vice President and Fab 2 Manager since August 2005, and as Fab 1 Manager since March 2003. From November 2000 to March 2003, Mr. Mor served as Senior Director of Process Device & Yield of Fab 1. From 1998 to 2000, he served as Director of Equipment Reliability & Support of Fab 1.
Prior to this, he was employed by National Semiconductor in various engineering and management capacities.
Mr. Mor earned his M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Ben Gurion University in Israel.
Chief Financial Officer
Senior Vice President of Finance
Mr. Shirazi was appointed Chief Financial Officer in November 2004, after serving as Controller since July 2000. He joined Tower in October 1998 serving as Vice Controller. Previously, he was employed as an Audit Manager in the accounting firm of Ratzkovski-Fried & Co., which merged into Ernst & Young (Israel), commencing August 1995.
Mr. Shirazi is a Certified Public Accountant in Israel (CPA), and has an MBA in Business Management from the Graduate School of Business at Haifa University with honors and a B.A. in Economics and Accounting from Haifa University.
Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Information Technology
Ms. Dahan was appointed Senior Vice President of Human Resources in April 2004, and IT Manager in January of 1998. She served as Director of Personnel, Recreation & Compensation from 1998 through 2004 and as Compensation and Benefits Manager from 1993 to 2004.
Previously, she was employed by ORS, a manpower company as the manager of the company’s northern branch responsible for all recruitment activities and the daily personnel and compensation activities of approximately 150 employees.
Ms. Dahan holds an MBA from the University of Derby and a B.A. in Social Science from Haifa University.
Senior Vice President
Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary
Ms. Somekh was appointed Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary in September 2008, having served as Corporate Secretary and General Counsel since March 2005, and as Associate General Counsel since May 2004.
From 2001-2004, she was employed by Goldsobel & Kirshen, Adv., specializing in the areas of intellectual property, biotechnology and corporate law.
Ms. Somekh holds an LL.M and J.D. from Boston University and a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University. She is a member of the Israeli Bar Association and the New York Bar.
Senior Vice President of Corporate Planning
Mr. Netzer was appointed Senior Vice President of Corporate Planning in February 2013 after serving as Vice President of Corporate Planning since November 2008. Prior to this, he served as General Manager of Mixed Signal, RF and Power Management Product Lines since 2005 and as Director, FAB 2 Yield and Device Engineering Manager since 2000. From 1995 to 2000, Mr. Netzer served in various engineering management positions within the R&D division dealing with CMOS, Mixed Signal, RF, and NVM Technologies.
Prior to joining Tower, he was employed at National Semiconductor and the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
Mr. Netzer holds a B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
Worldwide Senior Vice President of Quality and Reliability
Mr. Rabinovich was appointed Worldwide Vice President of Quality and Reliability in January 2015 and previously served as Vice President, Customer Support and General Manager, CMOS Business Unit since December of 2009. Prior to joining TowerJazz, from 2005-2009, he was Vice President of Operations, Opto Fab, Vishay Ltd. (formerly CyOptics Ltd.), a subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology.
Previously, from 2000-2005, Mr. Rabinovich served as President and Vice President of Product Development at CyOptics Ltd. From 1995-2000, he worked as a Process Engineering Manager and Director of Engineering for Tower Semiconductor. From 1983-1995, he held various engineering and management positions in National Semiconductor Company and in Tower Semiconductor, Israel.
Mr. Rabinovich holds a M.Sc. in Physics from Tel Aviv University and a B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
Senior Vice President and General Manager of RF/High Performance Analog and US Aerospace & Defense Business Groups, Newport Beach Site Manager
Dr. Racanelli was appointed Newport Beach Site Manager in April 2014 and also serves as Senior Vice President & General Manager, RF & High Performance Analog Business Group and Aerospace & Defense Business Group since September 2008. From June 2012 to March 2016, Dr. Racanelli also served as General Manager, Power Business Group. Previously, from 2002 to 2008, he held various management positions with Jazz Semiconductor including Vice President of Technology & Engineering and Aerospace & Defense General Manager.
Prior to Jazz, Dr. Racanelli held several positions at Conexant Systems and Rockwell Semiconductor since 1996 in the area of technology development where he helped establish industry leadership in SiGe and BiCMOS and MEMS technology, and built a strong design support organization. Prior to Rockwell, Dr. Racanelli worked at Motorola, Inc., where he contributed to bipolar, SiGe and SOI development for its Semiconductor Products Sector.
Dr. Racanelli received a Ph.D. and a M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University. He holds over 35 U.S. patents.
Senior Vice President and General Manager, CMOS Image Sensor Business Unit
Dr. Strum was appointed Senior Vice President in 2016 and has been serving as Vice President and General Manager of the CMOS Image Sensor Business Unit since 2005. Previously he was also VP of Europe Sales since June 2012 and VP and GM of the Specialty Business Unit since September 2008. He joined Tower in 2004 and served as GM of Tower's design center in Netanya and Device and Integration Department Manager. In 2005, he was appointed GM of the CMOS sensor and non-volatile memory (NVM) BU.
Prior to joining Tower, Dr. Strum served as the President and COO of TransChip Inc. and from 1996 to 2001, he served in various positions with Intel Corp., both in Israel and the US. From 1990 to 1996, he was the R&D Manager of SCD and was in charge of all the Infrared Detectors development in SCD.
Dr. Strum received his Ph.D. and B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion — Israel Institute of Technology in 1990 and 1985 respectively.
Vice President and General Manager of Mixed-Signal and Power Management Business Unit
Shimon Greenberg was appointed Vice President and General Manager of the Mixed-Signal and Power Management Business Unit in April 2016 and was previously head of the Mixed-Signal/CMOS Business Unit since October 2015. Prior to joining TowerJazz, between 2011 and 2015 he served as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Crystal-Video and as Managing Director and Partner, DS2 International. Prior to this, from 2006 to 2011 Mr. Greenberg was employed as Vice President of Business Development and Sales at Amimon Ltd. and at O.D.F Optronics Ltd. from 2004 to 2006 as VP of Marketing. Between 1998 and 2004, Mr. Greenberg held positions with Tower Semiconductor including: Director, NVM R&D Manager, and Programs Manager. Prior to this, from 1991 to 1998, he worked at the R&D Directorate of the Israeli Ministry of Defense as R&D Project Manager and Assistant to Head of R&D Directorate.
Mr. Greenberg received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Tel-Aviv University, Israel in 1991.
Senior Vice President of Process Engineering R&D General Manager of Transfer, Optimization and Development Process Services Business Unit (TOPS™)
Ms. Lavie was appointed Vice President of Process Engineering R&D and General Manager of Transfer, Optimization and Development Process Services in 2007. She has over 25 years’ experience with Si processing technologies and management in fabrication as well as in the R&D arena. She joined the R&D Group as Thin Film Section Manager when it was established in 1996. In her current position, she is leading the R&D Process Group, MEMS and manages the process transfer activity with a target of establishing customer specific processes in Tower’s fabs.
Previously, Ms. Lavie served at National Semiconductor as Thin Film Process Engineer. She has expertise in thin films metallization and process integration and has several patents within this area.
Ms. Lavie received a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Technion, Haifa.
Vice President of VLSI Design Center and Design Enablement
Mr. Galzur was appointed vice president of TowerJazz VLSI design center on July 2007. He has 20 years of experience in chip design and PDK development. He joined the R&D group in 1997 as an analog designer and was part of the design center from day one. In his current position he is leading TowerJazz world class design enablement activities including: Design (analog and digital), design services, PDK and spice development, mask cad, and IP. He is also responsible for TowerJazz unique NVM solutions, including device R&D and design.
Mr. Galzur received a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Technion, Haifa.
Vice President, Business Development & Special Projects
Mr. Imberman was appointed VP of Business Development and Special Projects for TowerJazz in April 2010 to manage worldwide business development, and specifically in India and China. Previously, he served as TowerJazz VP, Global Supply Chain Manager. From 2005 to 2010, Mr. Imberman served Intel Corporation as Engineering Department Manager and Fab Establishment Program Manager (Fab 28 in Israel). Prior to 2005, he served as Tower’s Fab 2 Manufacturing Director, Fab 1 Manufacturing Manager, R&D Director, Productization Manager and Test Manager. Starting in 1988, he was employed by National Semiconductor in various engineering and management capacities.
Mr. Imberman holds a B.A. degree in Political Science and Statistics from the Haifa University, followed by an MBA from Herriot Watt University.
Director of Emerging Technologies & Fellow
Dr. Roizin was named TowerJazz Fellow (the Company’s highest technical honor), and appointed Director of Emerging Technologies in 2010. Currently, he is working on TowerJazz roadmap R&D projects and coordinating interaction with TowerJazz research partners in the industry and academia.
Dr. Roizin has served with TowerJazz since 1997. Prior to his current position, he held engineering and managerial positions in TowerJazz R&D departments. During his career, he supervised the development of different types of semiconductor devices, including non-volatile memories and sensors for embedded CMOS technologies.
Dr. Roizin is a full professor of Technion - Israel Institute of Technology (visiting) and a full professor of Tel-Aviv University (adjunct). He is the author of about 300 publications, including 50 patents. He received his Ph.D. and D.Sc. (Hab) degrees and Professor’s title from the leading academic institutions of the former USSR.
Dr. Howard became a TowerJazz Fellow in March 2013 due to his significant contributions to the Company. He has been Executive Director since 2004, serving both commercial and aerospace & defense business units, focused on enablement of new technologies, new business and partnerships. Dr. Howard joined Jazz Semiconductor in 2002 at its inception and served in various roles in R&D and in production, including Director of Process Engineering.
Prior to joining Jazz, Dr. Howard held several positions at Conexant Systems, Rockwell Semiconductor, and SEMATECH, since 1997, in the area of technology development where he helped drive manufacturing technology in CMOS, SiGe BiCMOS, MEMS and custom semiconductor wafer processes. Prior to Rockwell, he worked at IMEC where he contributed to novel research for SiGe BiPolar and CMOS devices.
Dr. Howard attended Brown University where he received his Sc.B. in Mechanical Engineering and his Sc.M. and Ph.D. in Materials Science with a focus on electronic materials. He holds over 25 patents.
Vice President, Newport Beach Fab Process Engineering, US Integration & Fellow
Dr. Jolly was appointed Newport Beach Vice President of Fab Process Engineering and US Integration in February 2016. He became TowerJazz Fellow in December 2013. Previously from 2003 to 2016, Dr. Jolly served in various managerial and technical positions in the Operations and Technology Transfer Groups.
Prior to joining Jazz, Dr. Jolly held several positions with Mindspeed Technologies, Conexant Systems and Rockwell Semiconductor since 1996 in the area of technology development, where he helped establish industry leading Bipolar, SiGe and BiCMOS technologies. Prior to Rockwell, Dr. Jolly worked at Nortel in Ottawa, Canada in the R&D group where he contributed towards development of several generations of CMOS, Bipolar and BiCMOS processes. Dr. Jolly also worked as a Research Associate with the National Research Council of Canada.
Dr. Jolly received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Dalhousie University, Canada and his M.Sc. and B.Sc. from Guru Nanak University in India.
CIS R&D Expert & Fellow
Dr. Lahav joined TowerJazz in 2001 and became a TowerJazz Fellow in 2018. He has worldwide responsibility over the Company’s CMOS image sensor (CIS) technology offering. His research is focused on low noise global shutter technology, high resolution NIR imaging and back side illumination devices. Since 2008, Dr. Lahav has worked on global shutter pixel technology and fast sensors. This work in now widely used in many cameras including Time of Flight (TOF) and structured light 3D, range cameras for automotive applications, industrial and traffic control inspection cameras. From 2005 to 2008 he developed different device and process schemes for improving pixel dynamic range, noise, and sensitivity; this work enabled the transition from CCD technology to CIS in fields like cinema digital photography and broadcasting. Since 2002, Dr. Lahav has been the technology leader in the CIS R&D group and was responsible for the image sensor 0.18 technology ramp in TowerJazz’s 200mm fab in Israel. He has authored or co-authored more than 35 technical papers in international journals and conferences and has 11 issued patents. Dr. Lahav received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.
Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales, General Manager Tower USA
Mr. Saunders has served as Senior Vice President Worldwide Sales and General Manager of Tower Semiconductor USA (TSU) since 2015. Prior to TowerJazz, he spent five years at Cypress Semiconductor, most recently as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales.
Previously, he served in executive positions at Spansion, including Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Wireless Sales and Market Development. Prior to Spansion, Mr. Saunders was employed by Fairchild Semiconductor International, National Semiconductor Corporation, and Texas Instruments in various management positions.
Mr. Saunders received a B.S. in Computer Science, Magna Cum Laude from Union College, NY and completed the American Electronics Association Program for management of high technology companies at Stanford University Executive Institute, Stanford, CA.
Vice President of Sales Europe and Israel, Worldwide Customer Solutions
Mr. Ashkenazi was appointed Vice President of Sales for Israel & Europe and Vice President of Customer Solutions in March 2015. He was Vice President of Sales for APAC & Israel since June 2008, after serving as General Manager, CMOS Product Line since 2005 and as Director of Customer Support, and Director of Reliability since 2003. From 2000 to 2003 he served as Application Manager at Tower USA's office in Santa Clara and prior to that he held engineering management positions within the process, test and product engineering groups.
Mr. Ashkenazi holds a M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Physics from the Hebrew University.
Vice President of Sales Greater China and TPSco Business Development
Mr. Mahlen was appointed Vice President of Sales, Greater China and TPSCo Business Development in August 2016 and has served as Vice President of Asia Pacific Sales and China Business Development for TowerJazz since March 2015. Previously, he was Vice President of North America Sales and General Manager of TowerUSA since May 2013. He has also served as Vice President of APAC Sales and Power Business Development from 2010 to 2013. Previously, he served as Director of Marketing for TowerJazz's Specialty Business Unit and was brought into Jazz Semiconductor in 2006 to establish a power technology business focus.
Prior to Jazz, Mr. Mahlen worked at Polarfab, Inc., where he was one of the founding members orchestrating the change from an IDM to a Pure-play foundry in 2000. Prior to PolarFab, he contributed as an Application Engineering Manager/Engineer focused on ICs for the hard disk drive market, primarily preamplifiers, servo demodulators and PRML channels since 1993.
Vice President of Business Development, USA
Mr. Drumm has worked for TowerJazz since 2004 in various Sales Management capacities, currently Vice President of Business Development, USA. Prior to that, he was Vice President and General Manager of Tower Semiconductor USA, Inc. and Vice President of Sales, North America.
Prior to TowerJazz, Mr. Drumm spent 20 years in the U.S. Semiconductor and Foundry Industry, managing U.S. and Bay Area representative sales for LSI Logic and IBM Microelectronics. He has managed both Direct and Representative Sales forces, responsible for Business Development at major IDM and Fabless U.S. customers.
Mr. Drumm hails from Belfast, Ireland, and holds a B.S. in Mathematics, University of London, England.
Vice President of Sales Korea and Japan, President TowerJazz Korea
Mr. Song was appointed Vice President of Sales, Korea in August 2016 and has served as Vice President of Sales and President of TowerJazz Korea since February 2013. Since 2008, he served as Korea Sales Director for TowerJazz. Previously, he was General Manager of the Business Development Group at Korea Electronic Corporation (KEC). Prior to KEC, Song worked in various managerial positions at Fairchild Semiconductor in the subcontractor control, marketing and system integration departments.
